i share color stock and costs with a coworker.
it's always been the case that when we need to order, she complains and acts like she doesn't have the money to pay.
in the past we've waited until the last possible minute to order, and then have to pay a LOT for our orders.
so i've voluteered to do inventory, and put together an order once a month.
and said coworker is still carping about money and how she can't pay.
i try to remind her that it's bettet to spend $75 now that $150 later, but she still complains.
i'd love to cut her loose, but the color we use is so expensive that it makes it easier to share, except for this one issue. also, there's not a lot of space in our salon for each of us to ahve our own stock.
what would you do?

Re: frustration!!!!
Sun, November 13, 2005 - 7:08 PMWow what a dosey! This is one of those (only) times I am glad to be on commission once again, and not be in charge of my own orders, or others also. I really feel for you. This can be tricky. What color line do you use?
It really sounds like you need to give her a bill summary each month and tell her again the final time this is the way it is or your cutting her loose and going to another color line that you can afford by yourself. She is obviously making money to use product so she should either charge her clients more or budget better for own supplies. Or not be in the position she is in using expensive color. Is there anyone else you can share stock with that is more responsible?

Re: frustration!!!!
Mon, November 14, 2005 - 1:08 AMi would say to her that you need to set aside the money every month for the color. if you dont have it by this date then you dont have color either.
cant you find someone new to share with?
i find that people give the complaint speech when they are trying to talk you into covering for them. -

Re: frustration!!!!
Thu, December 1, 2005 - 9:23 PMwell, she's not trying to get me to cover for her, she's just got issues about money in general. every month she acts like it's a surprise that we have to pay rent.
i'm giving it a few months, and if it continues, i'm going to see if i can buy into another group's stock. oh, and we use goldwell.
the latest issue is our third contributor. he had a serious illness last year, and didn't work as much, so we didn't ask him to pay. now he seems to be fine, but still isn't working so much, so we made an agreement that he would pay per use, and he hasn't been keeping up with this. it's hard, because we're friends, and i'm feeling resentful that i have to even bring this up, but i'm also feeling like he is taking advantage of us. i hate confrontation, but i'm going to have to say something, sadly. i hope it doesn't affect our friendship. -

Re: frustration!!!!
Sat, December 3, 2005 - 8:17 AMThat is such a hard situation, especially the fact that you are friends. Sounds like you are being smart about giving it a few months. I always get mad at first then I think well shit I may need this people some day if I get sick, or lose business, or anything that can happen in our industry. It is sometimes better to vent then think of a less passive situation, because you may be in thier shoes tommorrow, but if it does continue, and you do feel taken advantage of that is the time to express yourself, I to HATE confrontation. Goldwell is soo expensive but I am sure your clients can tell a difference, in there color in the long run so it is about integrity and client loyalty and trust, in clients and coworkers. Good luck let us know how it goes!
